As a native French speaker with relevant educational background in literature, translation, and cultural studies, I hold a Bachelor's degree in English Language, Literature and Civilisation (LLCER), and a Master's degree in English Cultural Studies with a focus on literature, history, and postcolonial approaches. I have developed strong awareness of language, style and cultural context over these years and I believe it is essential in translation work.
Literature has always been an important part of my life, especially contemporary fiction and postcolonial, and books that deal with identity, memory, and social change. For my MA, I wrote a thesis on a novel by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and through my study, I was able to unpack the powerful use of storytelling as a means of resistance, cultural transmission, and memory. It further cemented my desire to support authors and publishers in ensuring the accessibility and visibility of such voices in other languages. My professional (non-academic) experience, especially in customer service and communication roles, has significantly contributed to my organization and interpersonal skills, as well as my reliability and precision. I dedicate the same enthusiasm and precision of detail when I am translating.
My professional work experience outside academia, specifically in various roles in customer service and communication, allowed me to develop great organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as a true sense of responsibility and accuracy. I bring that same commitment and diligence to my translation work. I try to aim for accuracy, as well as a sense of rhythm, clarity, and emotional fidelity.
I am particularly excited about literary translations that are meaningful to me and that I can help publish to new readers. Whether it be fiction, memoir, YA, or children's books, I look forward to working closely with the author to ensure their voice is respected while finding a new literary home for their story in French!
