Ulrich Hambuch has been a freelance management consultant specializing in business intelligence, data warehousing, big data, and corporate management since 2011. Prior to that, he worked for several years for a medium-sized IT and process consulting firm and a major telecommunications provider. He has more than 15 years of IT experience and has been involved in demanding BI projects for leading companies for over 10 years. In addition to his consulting work and as an active partner of SAP and HortonWorks, he is the author of the 2008 textbook "Success Factor Metadata Management - Relevance of Metadata Management for Data Quality in Business Intelligence" and has been involved with CeLS (an initiative of GECO & IDG) since 2016, promoting vendor-independent certification for business intelligence consultants and big data engineers.
Since 2016, he has become increasingly politically active, initially with the FDP and, since 2018, with the AfD. His focus is on digitalization and energy policy. After half a decade working for Deutsche Post AG and Deutsche Telekom AG, he worked for RWE Supply & Trading in Essen and SolarWorld AG in Bonn in 2016. From 2017 to 2018, he founded the company info.themis (management) advisory UG (hb). In 2019, he worked for the Fraunhofer Society in Bremerhaven and the Schwarz Group in Neckarsulm.
During the 2020-2021 coronavirus crisis, he left the AfD and founded the non-partisan e-commerce startup Kaiserbox.de in Nordheim near Heilbronn. After an illegal eviction in January 2022, he lived for about a year in an emergency shelter for refugees and the homeless in Nordhausen near Nordheim until he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in 2023.
From 2024 to 2025, he was active as a candidate in the local elections in Baden-Württemberg, applying for several offices as mayor, lord mayor, district administrator, and councilor. Since June 2025, he has been running as an independent candidate against Interior Minister Thomas Strobl in the 2026 Baden-Württemberg state elections for the urban district of Heilbronn.
