I have studied Classics and Linguistics in Germany, German-speaking Switzerland, and the United Kingdom and finished my PhD at the University of Oxford in 2018. I did my BA in Classical civilisations (majors: Greek, Latin) at the University of Basel and my MA in Ancient Greek and Ancient Near East Studies (archaeology and languages, i.e. Hebrew and Arabic) also at the University of Basel yet spending one semester at the Humboldt University of Berlin and the Free University of Berlin during an ERASMUS exchange. I completed my PhD in Classical languages and literature at the University of Oxford (Lady Margaret Hall) with a thesis on classical linguistics. Finally, I did an MPhil in Theoretical and applied linguistics at the University of Cambridge (Peterhouse) with a thesis on French linguistics. I have since built an extensive publication record (fully available on my Orcid-ID 0000-0001-6302-3726), organised several international conferences, line managed research assistants, and presented research outputs internationally. I have writte two monographs, published with Oxford University Press (2022) and Brill (2025), one edited volume with the Language Science Press (2024) and have the second one forthcoming with OpenBooks (2026), along with ca. 30 journal articles, book chapters, and book reviews. On the industry side, I have a background in the annotation of machine translated content between German and English (Unbabel, since 2020) and teaching (summer schools, placements abroad, and tutoring) and hold teaching qualifications for higher education (Fellow of the Higher Education Academy) and teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL level 5). I have recently taken up work with Outlier training LLMs in German and thus drawing on my bilinguality.
